FAQ
What is Fatigue
(asthenia)?
Fatigue/asthenia is the most common symptom described by patients with cancer
with a prevalence ranging from 60% to more than 96%, and many persist after
cure of cancer. Perhaps no other symptom is more classically associated with
cancer than fatigue. Furthermore fatigue is often cited as the most disruptive
symptom of a patient's daily routine (5). The symptom accompanies surgery,
chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and biologic response modifier therapy.
Chemotherapy- and radiation-therapy-related fatigue may be associated with
anemia or with an accumulation of cell destruction end products.[1,2]
In the case of radiation therapy, fatigue may be caused by increased energy
requirements to repair damaged epithelial tissue.[3
Although the exact mechanism
of fatigue in patients with cancer is often not known its causes are diverse.
A high frequency of fatigue is reported after different treatments, including
surgery, chemotherapy, and bone marrow transplantation. Chemotherapy
has been reported to cause fatigue in 75% to 100% of cases, with the symptoms
persisting months to years after the treatment is completed. Although
radiation therapy is a localized treatment, the incidence of fatigue with
its use runs high, especially with abdominal radiation.
Fatigue increases during
radiation therapy and can endure for many months after the treatment is
completed. In addition numerous factors related to the moods, beliefs,
attitudes, and reactions to stressors of people with cancer are thought
to contribute to the development of chronic fatigue.(4)
Adrenal insufficiency in
critically ill patients
were the corticotropic axis is greatly activated causing cortisol
concentration that correlates with illness-severity and are highest in
individuals with highest mortality (7).is also a major Fatigue (lack of
energy, stamina, gastric pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness….)
inducing factor that should be addressed when coming to treat it. (7)
Because the etiology of cancer
related fatigue is generally multifactoral the pharmaceutical management
should, whenever possible, be directed toward etiology.(5)
How is it treated?
"Although a variety of
treatment-and disease-related factors may contribute to the development of
fatigue, the biochemical, physiologic, psychologic, and behavioral mechanisms
of this symptom complex are poorly understood" "There is no standard of
care for the assessment or treatment of fatigue in patients with
cancer".* (citations from US National Cancer Institute - Fatigue
PDQ for Professionals)
What is the effective mechanism of
Point4™?
Health is dependent on the healthy functioning of
cells Stress, physical or emotional, has an impact at the cellular
level - depriving cells of their energy supply. When a cell cannot function properly
it becomes weak and damaged. The body gradually breaks down and disease and aging
processes begin. This is where adaptogens enter the picture in a remarkable way.
From the beginning they allow the cell to absorb and use its available energy
by uniting glucose and enzymes. Adaptogens also prevent the formation of complex
molecules which obstruct the cells from manufacturing energy properly. The body
is allowed full access to its energy potential and the cells remain healthy.
This process actually takes place in every cell in
the body. The cells return to healthier functioning as the various body organs
and systems begin to normalize. This normalizing effect may be noticeable in various
internal or external ways. Ultimately, the entire body will normalize itself and
achieve the balance that nature intended. For whom are the product meant?
Point4Life™
is recommend for every persons who is before, undergoing or
after chemo or radiotherapy, marrow transplantation, recovering from surgery or major illness. Point4Energy™ is
recommended for every person living a stressful life, physical or emotional, exposed
to harmful substances or environments as well as for athletes and individuals
engaged in extreme activities.
What is the rational behind Point4Life™
Point4Life™ development
is based on the well researched and documented thesis that
non-specific-stress is playing a dominant role in cancer related fatigue
and may contribute to cancer development and that Point4Life™'s
ingredients, may exaggerate an already existing biphasic response to stress
via inhibition of enzymes which limit the binding of stress hormones to their
receptors and by thus protect body from their harmful effects.
What are the indications ?
Point4Life™ is to be used as
an adjuvant complementary therapy to surgical, chemo and radiation
therapies, and following marrow transplantation. Point4Life™is expected to
increase body's nonspecific resistance to physical and mental stressors,
protect body from harmful effects at cellular level and by thus to minimize
fatigue symptoms generally associated with cancer and critical illnesses i.e.
lack of energy, stamina, gastric pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting,
dizziness…
"Post-treatment"
- Due to its "homeostasis regulatory" (biphasic response to stress
attributes, Point4Life™ is expected to play a significant role in the
convalescence of cancer and critically ill patients by "protection" against
fatigue persistence as well as reoccurrence or development of cancer.
Which
factors are answered by Point4Life™ ?
Point4Life™ is designed to
answer to a dominant etiological factors namely:
The regulation of "non-specific-stress" harmful effects
on the body's homeostatic mechanism.
What is the effective mechanism of
Point4™ ?
The
probable biphasic effect results from increased occupancy of positive and
negative feedback stress hormone receptors by their natural ligands due to
inhibition of specific enzymes which function to limit receptor occupancy.
Specially is suggested that PG ( inhibits 11-beta hydroxysteroid
dehydrogenase one and ES inhibits catechol-O-methyl transferase,
both of which reside in close proximity to stress hormone receptors and
catalyze the degradation of stress hormones into inactive compounds. In
addition it is suggested that the increased energy said to result from PG and
may be a consequence of their increasing the occupancy of stress hormone
receptors which function to redistribute the body's energy reserves from
regeneration to activity.
What does Point4™
consist of? Point4™ consists of Adaptogens
(unique phyto-chemicals),
anti-oxidants and
vitamins. Is
Point4™
safe?
Adaptogens and their health beneficial effects have been researched for over fifty
years. The actual absorption of adaptogens, as all plant sterols, into the human
body is considerably minor. No side- effects have been detected. In any
case of an extremely rare disease, as well as during any medical treatment you
should consult your doctor. How much do you have to consume in order
to feel better? An adequate amount
of Point4Life™
is about 500mg This amount is delivered in 1 capsule
a day. An
adequate amount of Point4Energy™
is about 250mg This amount is delivered in 1 capsule a day.
Does one need an authority approval to market
Point4™?
Yes. Products containing plant sterols have to be approved
by the appropriate regulatory authorities before they can be launched on the
market.
Why are adaptogens and antioxidants essential to human health?
When
under stress, the body reacts by producing adrenaline which puts the whole body
on a state of alert. The metabolism, blood pressure and circulation are disrupted;
immunity and resistance are drastically reduced; performance suffers. In short,
stress undermines health and destroys well-being.
Oxidation of human cells appears to play a critical role in processes of aging
and many degenerative diseases. Oxidation is caused by free radicals that are
generated by body functions and lifestyle. Antioxidants can decrease oxidation
by neutralizing free radicals. This can result in a slower aging process.
Point4™
antioxidants are free radical scavengers and they are effective in the
aqueous parts of human body. It can possibly recycle vitamin E. In practice
this means that it enhances the effect of vitamin E also present in Point4™.
How Adaptogens work at the Cellular
Level?
Health is dependent on the healthy functioning of cells
Stress, physical or emotional, has an impact at the cellular
level - depriving cells of their energy supply. When a cell cannot
function properly
it becomes weak and damaged. The body gradually breaks down and disease and aging
processes begin. This is where adaptogens enter the picture in a remarkable way. From the beginning they allow the cell to absorb and use its available
energy by uniting glucose and enzymes.
Adaptogens also prevent the formation of
complex molecules which obstruct the cells from manufacturing energy
properly. The body is allowed full access to its energy potential
and the ells remain healthy.
This process actually takes place in every cell in
the body. The cells return to healthier functioning as the various body organs
and systems begin to normalize. This normalizing effect may be noticeable in various
internal or external ways. Ultimately, the entire body will normalize itself and
achieve the balance that nature intended.
Is there anything else in nature which works this
way?
No, Adaptogens are completely unique in nature. Scientists
have struggled with stress for decades, but have never achieved this scientific
breakthrough. Adaptogens are the only natural substances which can help
the body protect itself form stress. They provide benefits which are impossible
to get in any other way.
What does Point4™ do?
Point4™ cannot
remove stress from anyone's life, but it helps the body adapt to stress. If you
have been taking Point4™ the
stress reaction is different. The response is sharper, but the production of adrenaline
slows down and there is more left in reserve. One is not as quickly exhausted
- fewer hormones are needed to achieve the same effect.
How Long Does Point4™ take to work?
From the moment you first take Point4™
it begins its work at the cellular level. The body limits its own reaction to
stress, and cells return to a healthy state. This effect happens for everyone.
Many of the internal changes are not felt - but they are both immediate and dramatic.
The way these show up in everyday life may be subtle at first - but once the cellular
changes happen, people can begin to see or feel the difference in themselves as
the body adapts and balances itself. Within a few hours or a few weeks, each individual
will ultimately experience Point4™'s
impact - as noticeable changes in daily life, emotional and physical health and
a sense of overall well being.
What about side effect & contraindications?
No known side effects recorded.
Contraindications:
Concomitant use with high blood pressure, anticoagulants or other heart medication or immunosuppressants should be monitored.
